Klavze 28 is a rustic farmhouse bed and breakfast located in a secluded area of the Soca Valley in western Slovenia. At the end of a winding road you’ll find two old restored farm houses sitting pretty in an idyllic valley surrounded by mountains and rolling hills. The 22 acre property comprises meadows and forests and is adjacent to the Baca River.
What adjectives can I use to describe Klavze 28? Peaceful, dreamy, rustic and oh so atmospheric! It truly is a little piece of paradise! and THAT is why you should book Klavze 28 A.S.A.P!

I don’t normally write hotel/accommodations reviews but Klavze 28 is not your mill hotel, and so this unique and wonderful experience deserves a spotlight review!

guest rooms and common rooms at Klavze 28
Rooms are available in each of the two farmhouses:
- Loft Suite: the entire upper floor of one of the farmhouses
- Forest Room, Meadow Room, River room: forest and mountain views
- Room 5, Room Q: private balcony
Cozy guest rooms are equipped with basically everything you need including: bedding, bath sheets and free toiletries / complimentary toiletries. Many of the rooms offer a garden view of the hills and valleys that surround the property. Ground floor rooms available if you prefer. Extra beds available upon request.
heating and air conditioning (a/c)
Our room had a small space heater, which we did not need on our visit in the month of September. I do not believe there is any air conditioning, but again, we did not feel the need for it. We were able to open the windows and were very comfortable. We were told that they can provide a fan if you need one.
We were fortunate enough to have a rustic room with stone walls. The double room has an en suite bathroom / private bathroom. Two twin beds together make a large double bed.
Such attention to detail! it all adds to the charm of this rustic farmhouse stay!
I loved the room BUT the toilet was a bit of a challenge. It’s an old fashioned high tank style toilet, very “old world charm” but it’s a bit of a challenge to flush. Once you get the hang of it, it works fine. Keep trying!
Note on room selection: Booking.com has photos of the rooms that you can survey before booking a particular room (or contact the property through Booking.com or through their email address to request a certain room.)
Guests have access to the remainder of the house, except for the other guest rooms of course.
dining area and kitchen
There is a dining area and a shared kitchen. The fully equipped kitchen is available for guests to cook their own meals so if you pick up groceries you don’t even need to leave the property for the lunch and dinner meals! Guests are welcomed to use herbs from the herb garden or choose one of the wines from local vineyards.
There is also a shared lounge with a seating area. There are no televisions but there are board games, and books that guests are welcome to borrow.
There is also a separate toilet (small bathroom) in the commons area.
Guests can hike and explore the serene surroundings of the property, participate in relaxing activities like yoga and meditation. or simply lounge in the beautiful outdoor spaces.
There are several places to dine al fresco at Klavze 28 bed and breakfast Most na Soci.
The private beach area and swimming hole are the perfect place to swim and sunbathe. Apparently a popular activity among guests is an early morning plunge into the cold Backa River, which flows through the property.
For guests with children, the bed and breakfast offers outdoor play equipment.
They light a fire most evenings, so cozy up and cap off your day next to a blazing fire in the outdoor fire pit.
Breakfast is pretty special!
Room rates include an excellent continental breakfast which features local dishes made with local products. If the weather is nice, dine alfresco on the sun deck. John prepares and serves a very special meal, and the views are second to none! His scrambled eggs are made with eggs from a local farm and they are quite excellent! Other locally sourced farm-to-table ingredients included fresh prosciutto and cheese.
Overall guests are very happy with their stay. Klavze 28’s guest rating on Booking.com is 9.6, excellent!

Minimum stay required
At the time we booked there was a two night minimum stay required. I rearranged our entire itinerary in order to meet the two night requirement and I DO NOT REGRET IT. In fact, what I do regret is that we didn’t stay longer! Stay as long as your schedule allows, it’s rest for mind, body and soul!
Check terms before booking but most often reservations come with free cancellation.
Yes! (charges may apply, contact the property for more rates)
Yes. Wi-fi is free, available throughout the property, and generally reliable. I think we did have to ask John to reboot the router once or twice.

John and Sarah, owners of Klavze 28, are a nice young couple from California living their dream in Slovenia. They are quite welcoming, friendly and helpful. If you need anything just ask!

What to bring
- A good book! This is a great place to unplug! (if you forgot to bring one there are books in the commons area)
- And speaking of plugs.. If you are a light sleeper, bring earplugs. As with any other wonderfully creaky old house, you’ll hear other guests stirring about the house.
- A small travel bag with some necessities. I chose not to carry my luggage up the stairs.
