heating and air conditioning (a/c)

Our room had a small space heater, which we did not need on our visit in the month of September. I do not believe there is any air conditioning, but again, we did not feel the need for it. We were able to open the windows and were very comfortable. We were told that they can provide a fan if you need one.

Our room

We were fortunate enough to have a rustic room with stone walls. The double room has an en suite bathroom / private bathroom. Two twin beds together make a large double bed.

I loved the room BUT the toilet was a bit of a challenge. It’s an old fashioned high tank style toilet, very “old world charm” but it’s a bit of a challenge to flush. Once you get the hang of it, it works fine. Keep trying!

John prepares and serves a very special meal, and the views are second to none! His scrambled eggs are made with eggs from a local farm and they are quite excellent! Minimum stay required

At the time we booked there was a two night minimum stay required. I rearranged our entire itinerary in order to meet the two night requirement and I DO NOT REGRET IT. In fact, what I do regret is that we didn’t stay longer! Stay as long as your schedule allows, it’s rest for mind, body and soul!

Cancellation

Check terms before booking but most often reservations come with free cancellation.

Pets

Yes! (charges may apply, contact the property for more rates)

Wi-fi

Yes. Wi-fi is free, available throughout the property, and generally reliable. I think we did have to ask John to reboot the router once or twice.

The staff (owners)

John and Sarah, owners of Klavze 28, are a nice young couple from California living their dream in Slovenia. They are quite welcoming, friendly and helpful. If you need anything just ask!

What to bring

  • A good book! This is a great place to unplug! (if you forgot to bring one there are books in the commons area)
  • And speaking of plugs.. If you are a light sleeper, bring earplugs. As with any other wonderfully creaky old house, you’ll hear other guests stirring about the house.
  • A small travel bag with some necessities. I chose not to carry my luggage up the stairs.

I found the driveway a tiny bit terrifying. If I had been alone I would have parked at the end of the fairly short driveway and walked in and out but my husband isn’t much of a walker.

John can recommend some good places to eat. However, you may want to discuss your choices with him prior to your arrival and make a reservation. We came rolling in on a Friday night and all of his good recommendations were booked. Otherwise, Pizzerija Jezero in Most na Soči is a good option. (8 km)
