Hotel Pension Bloberger Hof Salzburg
There are lots of good places to stay in the city center of Salzburg with easy access to attractions but if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle and crowds there is a perfect alternative just outside of the city limits.
I had originally booked a hotel right in the busy center, within walking distance of the main attractions. While revisiting hotel options, I stumbled across charming Hotel Pension Bloberger Hof, a small family run hotel and was impressed by its scenic location. What really drew me in is that the direct bus to the city center is just steps from the property.
In my opinion this is the ideal place for anyone visiting the wonderful city of Salzburg. The hospitality from the friendly staff is second to none, the food outstanding. Oh, and the prices are great! What more could you ask for?

Location is key
This fabulous pension hotel (a type of guest house or boarding house) is located on the southern outskirts of Salzburg in the Leopoldskron-Moos District of Austria. Bloberger Hof guests can trade the busy hustle and bustle of the city for mountain views and a peaceful and relaxing setting. Our room had a balcony that offered views of the Untersberg Mountain.

An economical choice
Reasonable prices
Blobergerhof’s prices are incredibly reasonable, a great value for your money. Hotels in the city center, while convenient, cost considerably more.
Save on parking
We had a car during our visit to Salzburg. You’ll pay a premium to park a car overnight in the city center. Bloberger Hof offers free parking for their guests.
Save money with the Salzburg card
The first thing we did when we checked in was purchase a Salzburg card (available for purchase at the front desk.) If you plan to spend much time in Salzburg you’ll save money with this discount card. It saved us about 30 euros per person over 3 days.
With the city Salzburg card: Free or discounted entry to many of the most popular attractions in the historic city, ride area buses for free, a free round trip boat ride on the Salzach River, discounts on the hop-on-hop-off bus tours, and more!

Eating at Bloberger Hof
There is a restaurant on-site that serves traditional Austrian cuisine made from locally sourced ingredients. The Bloberger Hof’s restaurant serves traditional Austrian cuisine and a daily breakfast buffet. In the summer months, guests can enjoy their breakfast or dinner on the covered terrace.
Breakfast
The hearty and nutritious food rich buffet breakfast is a real treat. Delicious food and a variety of juices, tea, and coffee are just what you’ll need to start off a long day of touring the town! Mouthwatering choices with this exceptionally good breakfast include fresh pastries, butter, fruit, cheese, jam, and eggs cooked the way you like them! (sorry not photos, I was too busy enjoying my food!)
Served in the dining area every day: 7.30 a.m. – 10 a.m.
Evening Meal (dinner)
Don’t make the mistake of skipping an evening meal at Bloberger Hof! We waited till our last night to have dinner at the hotel and wished we had taken the opportunity to eat there more! It was possibly the best meal that we had in our two weeks in Europe! Ask about their children’s menu and the evening’s special menu.
Opening times: Mon – Sat: 6 – 9 p.m.
The restaurant is closed on Sunday evenings and in February and March the restaurant serves small snacks only.

While we could all eat Austrian food every day, if you are looking for a bit of a break consider some of the international cuisines in the city. We had some of the best Asian food that we have ever had at Yuen Restaurant, Getreidegasse 24.
Highland Cattle
I simply adore Highland cattle! After missing my opportunity in Scotland, I had to go all the way to Austria to see them!

getting around
Bus
Bloberger Hof conveniently sits on the bus route that provides direct connections into the Center of Salzburg just 6 km away! The closest bus station, (Hammerauerstraße) Hammerauer Strasse bus stop, is a 140-meter (1-minute) walk. Catch one of the frequent #21 buses and after a 15-minute bus ride, you’ll find yourself in the wonderful Old Town of Salzburg!
photo: me, waiting for the #21 to take me to the Mozart Dinner Concert!

car
You really don’t need a car in the city centre, and parking is a hassle but if you prefer to drive your best option for public parking is the park and ride. The Salzburg Park and Ride is a 15-minute drive from the hotel, and a great choice for drivers. Pay a set fee for parking and the shuttle that goes to the city center.
Final assessment / review
3 Stars hotel? No way! This small hotel gets an overall score of 10/10! I simply can’t wait to get back to Salzburg and the wonderful Bloberger Hof! Between the fabulous prices, food, and setting, and the fact that getting to the city center is a cinch, I contend that this is one of the best holiday rentals, and best experience, in Salzburg!
